Thirty-One Outlet Sale 70% Off!

thirty-one outlet sale

It’s time for the super-duper Thirty-One Outlet Sale!

I’ve recently became quite addicted to Thirty-One and am very excited about this sale.  This is a really great time to pick up some great gifts for very little money!  I just bought Christmas gifts and birthday gifts…and well, a few things for myself.

The sale started today at 9 a.m. EST and ends at 3 a.m. EST on Saturday, July 20.  Hurry, there’s not much time left!  Once items are gone they may be gone for good!

There is a limit of 31 items per order with a flat $8 shipping charge.  Shipping is by FedEx Home Delivery will be completed by August 3, 2013.

Check out is through Amazon, but you don’t have to have an Amazon account to checkout. Amazon is being used because they are the only ones that can securely handle this big of a sale.

The site may be slow but keep trying and coming back.  I just checked out and had no problems at all but some have reported them at other times today.   Rumor is, they’ll be adding new items as the sale continues so you may want to check back.

Enjoy shopping!!

Stride Rite Sale!

Minnie Mouse Sandals

Stride Rite is having a great sale going on now!  I just went to buy my daughter some desperately needed sandals when I stumbled upon a sale.  Don’t you just love that?!  Many pairs are $15 off and I got a surprise when I went to check out.  Every other pair of shoes in my cart were half off!  I don’t see this BOGO 1/2 off sale advertised anywhere but I’m glad I noticed it so I could score an additional pair of shoes for cheap ($12.50 to be exact!).

The cute Minnie Mouse shoes above are one of the pairs I bought.  This is the first time I’ve seen the Minnie Mouse line go on sale and trust me, I’ve been watching for a while!  They’re on sale for only $29.99 from $46.

To save even more, make sure you shop through Ebates to get an additional 4.5% cash back.  I love Ebates.  I don’t think anyone should shop online without it!

Getting to the Perfect Financial Situation May Be Easier than You Think

Finances

Recently unemployed, I have labored in my thoughts and in prayer about whether to pursue work or not. It’s incredible the social pressure there is to get a job so we have more money.

And why should I not work? My kids are grown, and I could easily go get a job as a substitute teacher this very day.

But I was listening to a Francis Chan sermon this morning, and he shared a verse that seems so contrary to what everyone is urging me to do that I almost feel embarrassed to meditate on it.

“Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.” (Proverbs 30:7-8 NIV).

As Francis Chan says, this wise man is begging God to make sure he only lives paycheck to paycheck until he dies.

So if Matt and I have enough to live on that we’re not desperate to steal to survive, but we don’t have so much that we aren’t praying God will provide for next month’s needs, aren’t we in the perfect position?

According to the wisdom literature of the Bible, would I be foolish to get a job that would move us into a place where we have no need to ask for our daily bread? This is strange thinking, a radically un-American mindset toward money. Begging God to please, please not give us more money than we have right now? That feels uncomfortable.

But maybe our current financial situation, by God’s kingdom standards, is most enviable in all the world.

Hmmmm.

My husband preached from James 1, Sunday night, saying that sometimes the word of truth makes us angry (see James 1:18-20) –when God pokes us in an uncomfortable way to obey uncomfortable precepts. I had NO IDEA I would get that squirmy, I-don’t-like-this feeling the day after I listened to Matt’s sermon. But sometimes what we read in the Bible is at once radical and simple, and the Holy Spirit just stands there saying, Not rocket science, kid. You’ll either live by this truth or not. Make a choice.

Proverbs 30:7-8 is going on a note card and traveling around with me this week. It will take some work to humble myself before this precept about money. And it will require humility, because most people, even good Christian people, will think I’m foolish not to get a job and increase the family wealth. And so before me lies the decision to please either men (including my own desire to have more money!) or God.

Oh boy.

How does this financial thought from Proverbs land with you? Rub ya a bit the wrong way?

Save Money on Lotion by Using Every Last Drop

Bottles

Me and my relationship with lotion is tight.  We are close, very close.  I use it every morning {or afternoon, ha!} when I get out of the shower.  All over.  I use it again on my hands after I wash them.  Every time.  I use lotion again on hands, feet, and decollete before going bed.  I have my favorite brands of lotion for summer and for winter.

Because of my slight obsession, we go through a lot of lotion at my house and I don’t always opt for the cheap lotion.  If I can use a coupon or find a good brand on sale you bet I’ll do that but I don’t hesitate to buy a $8+ bottle of lotion at full price if I need it.  Usually I’ll have a small stockpile and I won’t need to pay full price but sometimes it does happen.  Lotion is one of those areas I don’t mind splurging on from time to time.  It makes my skin feel good, helps fight off wrinkles, and it even makes me smell good for a little while.  What’s not to love?

I’ll tell  you what!  The containers lotion is in!!  Don’t they drive you nuts too?!  There is so much left in the bottom of every bottle that is simply thrown out.  I used to stick my finger inside and twist and squirm to get more out until my husband showed me a better way.  He cut the bottle for me.  He’s a genius, right?  He isn’t one to pinch pennies at the grocery store but even he was appalled at the amount of lotion left inside the bottle.

*I want to stop here and say that if a lotion company happens to be reading this I have an idea for a fabulous lotion container.  Contact me, we’ll get a patent on it and make some money!*

Cut Lotion Bottles to Get Every Last Drop

The first time my husband cut the bottle for me we left it cut open and on the counter for us to use and then throw away.  It didn’t take us long to realize that this wasn’t a good method because after a day or two the lotion became very hard and wax-like and then unusable.  The next time we stored it in a Rubbermaid container and kept it on the bathroom sink.  This worked perfectly.  Now I’ll save up a handful of near empty bottles and have my husband cut them all at once.  We’ll end up with a good size Rubbermaid container full that would probably come close to equaling a full bottle of lotion.

Tips:

  • -Be very careful cutting the hard plastic.  I have my husband do it because I’m afraid I would cut my finger off.
  • -You can use a spoon or a small spatula to remove the lotion from the cut container.
  • -Once you’ve removed the lotion you can rinse the container and it’s ready to be recycled.

If you liked this tip please pin it so others can enjoy saving money on lotion too!

Fujifilm Finepix 16MP Digital Camera for ONLY $4!

Fijifilm camera deal

This is a CRAZY deal!  It’s such a good deal that I worry it might be a misprint but I went ahead and ordered anyway.  The order went through just fine and I’ll be picking it up later this week at my Walmart….unless the order is cancelled and my account is credited.  It’s such a good deal though that I figured it was worth the shot!  I’m sharing it with you too in case that it is a legit deal and Walmart just happens to have a clearance on Fujifilm cameras right now.  Enjoy!

The Best Time to Buy Everything!

The Best Time to Buy Everything
I hope this calendar will be helpful but please consider this as a general guide.  This is the result of watching prices on items for 5 years.  This is a guide to follow but you’ll want to keep your eye on the sales circulars {and of course this site} to help you find the best deal because there will always be exceptions.  Also, don’t forget the awesome power of negotiation too!

Other Savings Tips:

  • Airline tickets tend to be least expensive when bought on a Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. The worst prices will come when you shop Saturday and Sunday.
  • Jewelry sales are common, except around Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas. So plan to buy early and always shop from a local jeweler, (from my experience) the selection will be better with more unique items, the prices will be lower and the salesman more knowledgeable and helpful.

Evgie.com: Vinyl Decals 15% Off with Coupon!

Once Upon a Time Decal

Once Upon a Time… decal would be perfect for any nursery or reading nook.  This decal set is only $32 and that includes all the decals you see on the wall!  The stars, the cat, the cloud, the key, and the moon, all of it!

Don't Forget to Kiss Me Goodnight Decal

Don’t Forget to Kiss Me Good Night decal is only $25 and it also includes all of the decals you see pictured.  Isn’t this precious?  I think it’s very sweet!

I am a big fan of sprucing up the boring walls in my home through the use of wall decals.  It’s a fun and creative way to make a change without making a commitment to that design.  Sure painting is also a fun way to spice things up a bit but it’s more permanent and there is a lot more room for error there.  With decals you can pick what you want it to look like before you begin (unlike painting), peel your sticker-like decal off and apply it.  You can be done with a massive project in no time.

Disclaimer: I’m working with Evgie.com to help make a custom design for my living room.  I’m very excited and I can’t wait to show you the end result!  In exchange for the decal I promised to give them advertising on our blog, EmbracingBeauty.com and to post pictures and my opinion of the finished project.

The people at Evgie were gracious enough to give us a 15% off code to use on ANYTHING on Evgie.com!  You could buy either of the two adorable decals I’ve added above or find your own decal that you’re in love with.  Just use the coupon code EM15 at checkout to save 15%.

Evgie.com sells easy to apply vinyl decal for your home or office that looks like a hand-painted design.  These decals are high quality decorative vinyl and they are as easy to remove as they are to apply.

You could purchase decals for yourself or even as a gift for someone else.  They make great bridal shower or wedding gift, baby shower gift, birthdays, new home purchases, graduations, Christmas, etc.  Each decal comes fully ready with the tools you need to finish the job and with step by step instructions on how to apply them.

I’m not sure how long this coupon code will last so if you’re interested in a decal I wouldn’t wait too long!
